About The Admin Awards
The Admin Awards is the first and only program of its kind in the U.S. to publicly recognize the invaluable contributions of Administrative Professionals.
Founded in 2012 by Sunny Nunan, the daughter of a career admin and Dallas entrepreneur, The Admin Awards is a unique competition and celebration that recognizes administrative excellence in nine award categories. Among those categories includes the program’s most prestigious award, The Colleen Barrett Award for Administrative Excellence, which elevates the professional who embodies the “spirit” and proficiency of nationally renowned (former) admin, Colleen Barrett, President Emeritus of Southwest Airlines. During her four decade career at Southwest, Colleen climbed from secretary (to Herb Kelleher, the airlines founder) to President and COO of the legendary, award winning airline. Colleen personally selects and presents this coveted award at the awards luncheon.
Hundreds of nominations are submitted by the business communities we serve in support of administrative professionals in the various award categories which are reviewed and evaluated by an independent panel of judges who serve alongside Colleen and select the finalists and winners in their assigned award categories. Winners are then announced at The Admin Awards luncheon, a high energy, super fun event (like no other business awards program you’ve been to) which draws between 400-600* area business leaders who attend to cheer on their administrative staff while celebrating their accomplishments and service.
While the Admin Awards is a competition, at its heart it’s truly a celebration of every administrative professional which is why each year, hundreds of admins attend regardless of their status in the competition to cheer on their peers, enjoy the red carpet, VIP treatment by The Admin Awards staff and remind themselves of their importance to their organizations.
